Important: Uninstall previous versions before installation.

Install the Plugin

Install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen directly:

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
  2. Navigate to Plugins > Add New
  3. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page
  4. Click Choose File and select the Notary Bot Pro plugin ZIP file
  5. Click Install Now

Activate the Plugin

After installation, activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' screen in WordPress:

  1. Once installation is complete, click Activate Plugin
  2. Alternatively, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins and click Activate under Notary Bot Pro

Get a Google Gemini API Key

You'll need a Google Gemini API key to power the chatbot:

  1. Visit the Google AI Developer Portal
  2. Create or sign in to your Google account
  3. Get API access for Gemini API
  4. Generate an API key from the Google AI Studio
  5. Copy your API key for use in the plugin settings

Configure the Plugin

Set up and customize the chatbot through the plugin settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Easy AI Chatbot in your WordPress admin dashboard
  2. Enter your Google Gemini API key in the appropriate field
  3. Use the color picker to select a custom color for your chatbot interface
  4. Configure the Pre-Prompt text if desired
  5. Select your preferred Gemini model
  6. Save your settings

Using Pre-Prompt Feature

The Pre-Prompt functionality is powerful and allows you to set a consistent context or instruction for every AI query. Add to pre prompt "when someone says schedule an appointment show them this clickable link "link to your calendar or scheduling public page" If you currently do not have a public calendar page we recommend TidyCal

Examples of Pre-Prompt Usage:

How to Configure Pre-Prompt:

  1. Go to Settings > Easy AI Chatbot
  2. Find the Pre-Prompt section
  3. Enter your desired pre-prompt text
  4. Save your settings
Note: The pre-prompt is automatically prepended to each user message, guiding the AI's responses without changing the core interaction.

API and Connection Issues

API Key Not Working
Verify that your Google Gemini API key is correctly copied and pasted without any leading or trailing spaces.
Ensure your API key is active and not expired (Google API keys may expire after a certain period).
Check if you've reached your API rate limits for the day (free accounts have usage restrictions).
Try regenerating a new API key from the Google AI Studio.
To regenerate your API key: Go to Google AI Studio → Settings → API keys → Revoke the old key → Generate a new key
Chat Bot Not Appearing on Website
Verify that the plugin is activated in your WordPress dashboard under "Plugins".
Ensure there are no JavaScript conflicts with other plugins by temporarily disabling other plugins to identify potential conflicts.
Clear your browser cache and website cache if you're using a caching plugin.
Some page builders may interfere with shortcodes. Try adding the shortcode directly in a "Shortcode" or "Text/HTML" block.
Error: "Failed to Connect to API Service"
Check your internet connection.
Verify that the Google Gemini API service is operational (check Google's status page).
Ensure your web hosting server allows outbound connections to Google's API endpoints.
If using a security plugin or firewall, check if it's blocking API connections.
Some hosting providers restrict external API calls. Contact your hosting provider if the issue persists.

Functionality and Performance Issues

Bot Responses Are Irrelevant or Inaccurate
Review and refine your Pre-Prompt to better define the chatbot's context and behavior.
Consider switching to a more advanced model like Gemini 2.0 Pro (in Pro version) for improved responses.
Make your pre-prompt more specific to the notary industry by including key terms and processes.
Example of an improved pre-prompt: "You are an expert notary assistant. Provide accurate information about notary services including loan signings, acknowledgments, jurats, and oath administration. Explain state-specific requirements when relevant and always recommend clients contact the notary for official advice."
Chat Bot is Slow to Respond
If using Pro version, switch to the Gemini 2.0 Flash model for faster responses.
Check your website's overall performance and optimize if necessary.
Verify that your hosting provider has adequate resources to handle API connections.
Reduce the complexity of your pre-prompt as overly complex instructions may slow down processing.
Response time can also be affected by high API traffic. Peak usage hours may result in slower responses.
Rate Limit Exceeded Error
The plugin limits usage to 50 chats per hour to prevent API abuse.
Wait until the rate limit resets (typically within an hour).
For high-traffic websites, consider upgrading your Google API plan to increase limits.
To monitor your usage: Go to Google Cloud Console → APIs & Services → Dashboard → View your Gemini API usage

Customization and Display Issues

Chat Bot Colors Don't Match My Website
Go to Settings → Easy AI Chatbot → Use the color picker to select colors that match your website theme.
Remember that the single color setting affects multiple elements (icon, button, header, and AI message bubbles).
If you need more advanced customization, you may need to add custom CSS to your WordPress theme.

Scheduling Feature Not Working
Verify that you've configured your calendar integration correctly in the Pro settings.IE Add to pre prompt "when someone says schedule an appointment show them this clickable link "link to your calendar or scheduling public page"
Check that your availability hours are properly set in the scheduling calendar.
Ensure the API keys for your calendar service (Google Calendar, etc.) are valid and have the correct permissions.
Test the scheduling feature by sending a test appointment request.
Calendar sync issues may occur if you've recently changed your calendar permissions or settings.
Quick Response Buttons Not Appearing
Go to Settings → Easy AI Chatbot Pro → Quick Responses and verify that you've configured and enabled quick response buttons.
Check if you have exceeded the maximum number of quick response buttons (limit: 6).
Ensure button text is concise (under 30 characters for optimal display).
Test on different devices to ensure responsive display is working correctly.
Quick response buttons work best when they address your most common notary inquiries (e.g., "Mobile Notary Rates", "Document Requirements", "Schedule Appointment").
Model Switching Not Working
Verify that your API key has access to all models you're attempting to use.
Some newer models (like Gemini 2.0 Pro) may require specific API access or higher tier subscriptions.
Check if you've saved settings after changing the model selection.
Clear cache after changing models to ensure the new configuration takes effect.
Switching to more advanced models may increase your API usage costs. Monitor your Google API dashboard for usage statistics.

WordPress Integration Issues

Plugin Conflicts with Other WordPress Plugins
Temporarily deactivate other plugins one by one to identify which plugin is causing the conflict.
Common conflicts occur with caching plugins, security plugins, and other chatbot/live chat plugins.
